Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has voiced his concern over American billionaire Malcolm Glazer's takeover bid for the club.
United's board confirmed on Sunday that Glazer had tabled an improved £800m sterling bid to buy the 15-times English champions, his third attempt in the past year.
Fans of the club fear for the club's future if the deal goes through, and Giggs believes United should be left alone.
'The general feeling is that the club is in good hands,' the long-serving Welshman said today. 'This club cannot get any better than it is at the moment. We sympathise with the fans,' he added.
Giggs is the second United player to voice concerns over Glazer's proposed takeover after defender Rio Ferdinand said yesterday: 'People want the club's interests to be with people who have grown up with the club and have got its interests at heart.'
76-year-old Glazer already owns 28.1% of the club's shares, although any takeover would depend on major shareholders John Magnier and JP McManus, who own 28.9%, agreeing to sell their stake.
