Superquinn taken over by consortium

The family-run supermarket chain, Superquinn, has been taken over by a consortium of private investors in a deal worth €350 million.

The chain headed by Senator Feargal Quinn has sold a majority of the company to a group called Select Retail Holdings.

Under the agreement Simon Burke, an Irish man who headed Hamleys toy store in Britain, will become the new executive chairman of Superquinn.
