The French economy stalled in the third quarter compared with the second, according to figures from the INSEE statistics office.
The zero growth compared with a quarterly growth rate of 0.6% in the second quarter. The third quarter reading - the third estimate for French gross domestic product - fell short of most analysts' forecasts for a rise of 0.1%.
A breakdown of the data showed that household spending fell 0.2% in the third quarter compared with growth of 0.4% in the previous quarter. Business investment slumped 1.1%, exports grew 0.8% and imports increased 2.5%.
