BoE leaves UK rates at 4.75%

The Bank of England has left its key interest rate at 4.75% for the fourth month in a row.

Analysts had not expected any change, following weak manufacturing and retail sales figures.

Rates seem likely to be on hold until at least February as the bank probably needs time to get a clearer picture of how the economy is doing once the holiday season is out of the way.

The BoE offered no statement to accompany its decision. It has raised rates five times from 3.5% since November last year.
