Glen Dimplex buys UK boiler firm

Glen Dimplex has acquired UK-based Halstead Boilers, which makes boilers for gas central heating systems.

Founded in 1990, Halstead has a turnover of €30m and employs 120 people. It has a 5% share of the UK market.

Meanwhile, Glen Dimplex has set up a joint venture Company in Japan, to be called Glen Dimplex Japan. Its partner is Globally Incorporated, a subsidiary of one of Japan's largest house building groups, Matsumoto Kenko.

Glen Dimplex Japan will market and distribute the group's electric heating and Optiflame electric fires. Glen Dimplex says 1.2 million new homes are built each year in Japan.
