IDA Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland has confirmed that the European Commission has approved the Irish Government's support for Lucent Technologies' Bell Labs R&D investment for Dublin, which was announced in June.
The EUR69 million investment is being supported on behalf of the Government by IDA Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland.
"This decision gives the green light to this leading edge research programme to commence," said Sean Dorgan, chief executive of IDA Ireland. "Recruitment of the research teams has started and the transfer of the scientific leadership from Bell Laboratories is underway."
