Fruit distributor Fyffes says it has ended talks with the Italian importer of fruit and vegetables Bocchi Holdings.
A spokesperson for Fyffes said that there has been a lot of speculation recently linking the firms, but it wanted to let the market know that the talks had ended.
'Whilst discussions (with Bocchi) have taken place, negotiations between the parties have ended and consequently no transaction is currently contemplated,' a statement from the company said.
'Fyffes intends to continue its strategy to expand its business and to pursue development opportunities in its sector,' it added.
