Kellogg's bowled over by Ireland

Cereal giant Kellogg's is to set up an operations centre in Swords, Co Dublin.

Tanaiste Mary Harney said the project, backed by IDA Ireland, will provide jobs for 80 people in marketing, sales, finance and human resources.

The facility will support the company's manufacturing and distribution operations throughout Europe.

Kellogg's area president Tim Mobsby said Ireland proved to be the best location, as it provided a cost effective base with good access and communications to the EU market.

Kellogg's was established in 1906 and employs 25,000 people. It had total sales of $9 billion last year. The company has had a sales and marketing team of around 50 people in Ireland since 1980.
