Easyjet shows 28% July growth

Budget airline easyJet said today that passenger traffic in July rose 28% from a year ago to 2.41 million.

EasyJet also said its load factor - an indication of how many seats it has filled on flights - was 88.1%, from
85.6 % a year ago.

The airline said 2004 pretax profits would "at least exceed" last year's £52m but warned earnings would be below previous consensus forecasts.

Analysts said the airline's average fares were declining faster than its main competitor Ryanair and there were concerns about its exposure to record high oil prices.

Shares in easyJet fell 1.8% to 139 1/2 pence today. The stock has more than halved in value so far this year.
