Irish direct tax take lowest in EU

Ireland has the lowest ratio of direct tax to gross domestic product in the European Union at 28.6%, according to a report released today by Eurostat.

Sweden recorded the highest tax to GDP rate at 50.6%.

But Ireland also recorded the highest levels of indirect taxation in the EU at 43.7%, compared with Belgium which was found to have the lowest indirect taxation rates at 29.7%.
