Charlie McCreevy has said he hopes to hold his portfolio as Finance Minister in the Cabinet re-shuffle planned by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern for the autumn.
Speaking in Cork, Mr McCreevy said he felt the Government had done a good job over the past seven years.
He said it was his job as Finance Minister to create the conditions for the economy to flourish. He said he still enjoyed being Minister for Finance and added that he intended to keep doing that job.
'I am not making any arrangements for travel plans, either internally or externally,' Mr McCreevy said, in reference to the planned re-shuffle and the announcement of a new EU Commissioner from Ireland.
