A document setting out the framework for an all island energy market has been launched by Communications, Marine & Natural Resources Minister Dermot Ahern and the NI Enterprise Minister Barry Gardiner.
The draft document sets out the objectives to be achieved over the next three years. Consumers, industry groups and other interested parties have been invited to make submissions in response to the framework by August 27.
Minister Ahern described the document as a significant step forward.
He said that while the focus had been on infrastructure, the North-South group responsible for energy was now moving to harmonise policies and practices in both markets.
