Dublin is now the 14th most expensive city in the world, according to the latest survey by consultants Mercer.

This is up seven places from last year, while Dublin is now the fourth most expensive city in the EU.

Tokyo remains the most expensive city, while London has moved up five places to second. Moscow is third. Asuncion in Paraguay is the least expensive city in the survey. Copenhagen and Milan are the other EU cities which are more expensive than Dublin.

The survey covers 144 cities and measures the comparative cost of more than 200 items in each location. Mercer said there had been some dramatic movements in the rankings, largely due to currency fluctuations.
