Smart Telecom introduces single billing

Smart Telecom is now offering single billing to its residential and corporate cusotmers.

This allows customers to switch their telecoms' accounts to Smart Telecom and receive just one bill at the end of each billing period.

Prior to today, customers received two bills if they were customers of Smart, or any other alternative provider.

The Commission for Communication Regulation (ComReg) recently required Eircom to provide single billing facilities for alternative operators.

ComReg's most recent quarterly report showed that more consumers are using operators other than Eircom for landline calls. The report showed that 18% of people used other operators in 2004. This compares to 11% in 2003 and 8% in 2004.

Smart Telecom is Ireland's second largest provider of payphones.
