Retail sales volumes grow by 5%

The volume of retail sales increased by 5% in March 2004 compared to the same month last year. Figures from the Central Statistics Office show that there was a monthly increase of 4.1%.

If motor trades are excluded, the annual increase was 3.6% while there was a monthly increase of 2.7%, the CSO added.

The value of retail sales increased by 5.6% in March, compared to the same month last year. They increased by 4.5% in March from February. However, if motor trades are excluded, the annual increase is 4% while the monthly change was 1.7%.
