An Post short of ComReg target

A survey carried out for the communications regulator has found that 71% of standard mail was delivered within one working day last year. This is well short of ComReg's target of 94%.

This figure rose to 96% of mail delivered within three working days. 70% of mail posted in Dublin was delivered the next working day, with the figure rising to 73% outside Dublin.

But only 68% of mail posted outside Dublin for delivery in the city was delivered the next day.

The survey, carried out by TNS MRBI, is contained ComReg's first annual report on the quality of service provided by An Post.

Last month, in a consultation paper, the regulator said it intended to review the targets set for the company, and invited customers to say what they would regard as a reasonable standard of service.

ComReg has now extended its deadline for submissions on the consultation paper to March 26.
