The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries from October to December was up 7.1% on the preceding three month period.

According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office, production for all industries in December 2003 was 19.8% higher than in December 2002.

The 'Modern' sector - which comprises the high-tech and chemical sectors - showed an annual increase in production of 25.6% in December. The 'Traditional' sector was up just 3.3%.

Industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was up 7.7% in the final quarter of 2003 compared to the third quarter. Turnover in December was 4.7% than the same time the preceding year.
