Bus and rail services are almost back to normal tonight following a protest by transport workers that caused widespread disruption around the country
The four-hour protest by members of the NBRU and SIPTU, over plans to break up CIE and privatise some bus routes, ended at 3pm this afternoon.
Tanaiste Mary Harney said today's protest highlighted the importance of competition in transport services. However, the unions said the protest was the only way to make the Department of Transport aware of their concerns.
