The VHI is to offer travel insurance to its 1.55 million members, in its first move outside the health insurance market.
Multi Trip Travel will offer members full travel insurance covering all trips in a year for a single payment, ranging from €49 for individuals to €95 for families.
Chief executive Vincent Sheridan said many VHI members were already covered for overseas medical emergencies under their existing policies, and were therefore paying twice when buying travel and medical insurance for holidays.
VHI expects the market for multi-trip travel insurance to grow to 600,000 over the next year.
