Anglo AGM hears more good news

Anglo Irish Bank has told shareholders that profits for its first quarter are well up on the same period last year and ahead of expectations.

The bank's AGM statement said lending activity had been strong and its pipeline had shown further growth.

It said the indications pointed to a 'very strong' performance in 2004.

Shares in the bank were up 43 to €14.43 in Dublin by mid-morning.
