400 new jobs are to be created in Derry with confirmation of a £9.5m investment by a British financial services company.
The jobs will be provided over the next three years at premises in the Ulster Science and Technology Park by Yorkshire-based mortgage administrator Homeloan Management Ltd.
Homeloan provides outsourcing services handling assets worth £20 billion for over 30 clients, mainly in the mortgage sector. It was formed in 1988 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Skipton Building Society.
The investment is a major economic boost for Derry and the North West which has been badly hit by hundreds of job losses in the textiles industry.
The establishment of a call centre will be the first stage of the Derry operation. Back office mortgage servicing activities will be introduced later. HML managing director Steve Haggerty said the company was taking on a highly educated and talented local labour force.
