Barclaycard is to use a Manchester United branded credit cards to spearhead its launch in Ireland.
The company is Britain biggest credit card lender and the credit card division of the country's third biggest bank Barclays.
Barclays bought the right to issue Manchester United credit cards globally, excluding Britain and Singapore, in April and has already launched in South Africa.
Barclaycard said it would market the card in Ireland through direct mail, newspaper inserts and face-to-face sales.
Barclays chief executive Matt Barrett said in August he wanted Barclaycard to expand its international business to match the size of its British operation. But in October he came under fire for telling a British parliament committee that he did not borrow on credit cards because it was too expensive.
