The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Harney, has welcomed the passing of the Personal Injuries Assessment Bill 2003 by both Houses of the Oireachtas.
This Bill provides for the establishment of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board on a statutory basis. The aim of the PIAB is reduce the cost of insurance claims by speeding up delivery of compensation to genuine claimants.
The board is expected to start operations early in 2004.
