There was a 6.1% fall in short-term claimants on the Live register in the six months to October this year, while there was an increase of 4.3% in claimants who had been signing on for more than one year.
In October, 28.4% of all claimants were long-term, which compares with 26.3% in April and 27.3% in October a year ago.
