RTE understands that the Londis group in Britain is to suspend an extraordinary general meeting planned for December 30, where 2,000 store owners were due to vote on a £40m offer from Cork retailer Musgrave.
Londis management is to seek out other offers, after the Big Food group announced it would match the Musgrave bid, but give a higher share of the money to Londis store owners.
Big Food, the owner of the Iceland chain, says it will give management only £600,000, thus doubling the payment available to each of the Londis store owners. Distribution group NISA has also signalled that it may make a bid.
