Walter Beatty retires from Jurys board

Former Jurys Doyle chairman and current non-executive director Walter Beatty is to retire from the board at the end of this year.

Beatty is 70 years old, is chairman of Atlas Copco and is a director of a number of other companies.

Group chairman Richard Hooper said Beatty had made a tremendous contribution to the group over the past 31 years.

He said: 'Under his chairmanship Jurys developed from a small private Irish hotel company with five hotels to a publicly quoted international group with 35 properties in Ireland, UK and US.'

Walter Beatty Junior has now been co-opted to the board from January 1 2004. Beatty Junior is 41 and a managing partner of  Vincent & Beatty Solicitors and is a director of Aldi in Ireland.
