The euro zone posted economic growth of 0.4% in the third quarter from the previous three months, the EU's statistics office Eurostat said today.
In the second quarter, euro zone gross domestic product fell 0.1% from the first quarter, Eurostat said, confirming preliminary figures given on November 14.
The European Commission meanwhile said it was maintaining its forecast for euro zone GDP growth of 0.3-0.7% for the first quarter of 2004.
The EU's executive arm also maintained its forecast for fourth quarter euro zone growth at a range of 0.2-0.6%.
