Seasonally adjusted trade figures from the Central Statistics Office show that exports rose by 1% to €6,804m in August compared with July, while imports climbed by 5% to €4,050m. This led to a slight reduction in the trade surplus.
Early estimates for September, however, show exports of €7,170m and imports of €3,990m.
For the first eight months of the year, exports are down 17% to €63.9 billion, while imports are 21% lower at €38.7 billion.
