Three bids for Digital Hub development

The Digital Hub Development Agency (DHDA) has received three bids to develop the second phase of the Digital Hub project in Dublin.

The bids for construction of the new seven acre site were put forward following an international developer competition. The bidding consortia include: Hub Developments, Manor Park Digital Hub, Pierse Contracting and Earlsfort Centre Developments.

The agency said the objective of the competition is to select the bids which can achieve the objectives of the Digital Hub while striking a balance between design and the ability to deliver a financial return within a required timescale.

Following assessment, a preferred bidder will be selected and the DHDA will make a recommendation to the Minister for Communications to award the contract for the project. The agency expects to nominate the preferred bidder in January, with contract award and planning application underway by April/May 2004.

The DHDA agency envision an international digital enterprise area in Dublin that will include an integrated mix of enterprise, residential, retail and educational buildings.

The Digital Hub is a nine-acre site in the Liberties area of Dublin. The first stage of the project is well underway. There are 12 companies already located in the Digital hub with over 250 people working there. The Liberties Learning Initiative is also established with a range of learning initiatives delivered with local schools and third level colleges.
