The value of shares traded on the Irish Stock Exchange in the first half of the year grew to €37.9 billion, an increase of 14% on the same period last year.
The average daily turnover rose by 10% to €306m. The ISEQ index ended the period 7% ahead of its level at the end of 2002.
The biggest individual gain in the period was Elan - up 120% despite a late slump. Arnotts and DCC were next, with rises of 21% and 20% respectively.
The number of investment funds and sub-funds listed on the Irish market grew by 9% to 3,271, with the introduction of more than 300 new entities.
