1,000 new jobs will be created by the Radisson Hotel Group in Ireland which plans to open 10 new hotels here over the next five years. The first phase of its expansion will see four new hotels opened in the next twelve months.
Radisson SAS operate 164 hotels in 37 countries across the world. In Ireland, they run hotels in Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Limmavaddy. In August the group will open a new hotel in Letterkenny. Another ten are planned over the next five years.
Tanaiste Mary Harney has welcomed today's news, saying it was a major boost for the Irish tourist industry.
A wholly owned subsidiary of Scandanavian airline SAS, the Radisson group operate both their own and investors' hotels. Their planned 10 new hotels here will be newly built by investors.
