The first direct commercial flight between Dublin and Belfast since 1995 took off today from Dublin.
Regional airline Aer Arann is to provide two daily flights between the cities and hopes to carry over 40,000 passengers on the route over the next 12 months.
Managing director Padraig O'Ceidigh says he is confident that the airline can capture a significant percentage of the three million road and rail passengers who travel between the two cities each year.
