The new head of the Irish League of Credit Unions has said that thousands of people are over-extending themselves financially by borrowing too much.
Liam O'Dwyer told a conference in Cork today that some banks were bending over backwards to lure people into taking out loans.
Mr O'Dwyer warned people to exercise caution in the present environment of low interest rates.
