Mike Malloy, managing director of Compass Group's business in Ireland said, 'Despite the changing economic environment, and the business challenges which this has created, our business continues to go from strength to strength in Ireland.'

Overall turnover grew by 6%, earnings per share were up by 14% and there was a significant increase in free cash flow. The firm disposed of Little Chef and Travelodge for £712m during the six month period.
