Gillian Bowler will be the new Chairperson of Failte Ireland, the new national tourism development agency.
Failte Ireland will be formally established on May 28. On that date, Bord Failte Ireland and CERT will be dissolved and their functions transferred to the new authority.
Failte Ireland will focus on the experience of visitors when they get here, by working closely with the tourism industry to provide a one-stop-shop for strategic and practical support to develop and sustain Ireland as a high quality and competitive tourism destination, the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism said.
John O'Donoghue said that Tourism Ireland, which has responsibility for the international tourism marketing of the island of Ireland, will continue its focus on getting people here.
