Aer Arann wins Donegal and Sligo services

Aer Arann Express had secured a contract for the resumption of air services to the regional airports at Sligo and Donegal from Dublin. Services are expected to resume by March 3.

The contract, which follows a recent tender competition, will run to next January and is worth €4.4 million.

Flights on both the Donegal and Sligo routes were suspended last month after the collapse of the previous operator, EuroCeltic Airways.

The new temporary contract has been awarded in order to ensure the rapid restoration of air services to the two regions in question pending the development of more permanent arrangements, the Minister of State at the Department of Transport, James McDaid, said today.

Aer Arann will provide two daily return flights to Sligo. A daily return flight will operate to Donegal with a second flight operating during the peak summer months.
