Revenue gets €100m in latest bogus account campaign

A payment of €6 million has been made to the Revenue Commissioners in one of the latest settlements of bogus non-resident accounts. So far about €550 million has been paid to the taxman.

More than €100 million has been paid to the Revenue in the current phase of the bogus non-resident accounts campaign by persons who did not avail of the 2001 disclosure scheme. Some €80 million has been paid by individuals who were written to last October.

In a statement this evening, the Revenue said that a large number of sizeable payments in excess of €100,000 were included in the most recent receipts. It said that a number of payments were for amounts ranging between €1 million and €6 million.

The statement said that that the Revenue has now collected about €550 million in all phases of the bogus non-resident accounts campaign.
