The National Minimum Wage is being increased from €5.97 per hour to €6.35 per hour from today.
Tanaiste and Enterprise, Trade & Employment Minister Mary Harney said this was the second increase in the minimum wage agreed by the social partners and accepted by the Government as part of the PPF.
She added that a publicity campaign involving all the main media was currently being undertaken to raise awareness of the increase.
