Greencore pleased with year performance

Food group Greencore says it is pleased with its performance for the financial year to the end of September.

It says earnings per share for the period should come in at 29-30 cent, with net debt falling from €874m to between €565 and €575m.

Greencore says its chilled and frozen food division continues to trade strongly with summer sales up 8% despite poor weather.

The ingredients division is in line with expectations, despite a previously signalled reduction in profits at Irish Sugar. Greencore says trading at its bakery business Rathbones remains challenging, while new cake and dessert factory at Hull is still underperforming.

Shares in Greencore closed three cent lower at €5.85 in Dublin on Friday evening.
