25 workers are to lose their jobs when the Fonderman factory in Longford closes in July.
The company, which manufactures safety goggles and helmets for industry, is closing down after a decision by its parent to consolidate operations at other plants in Ireland and in the UK.
Fonderman has been in Longford for nearly 40 years. SIPTU and management are to begin negotiations on redundancy terms. Many of the workers have been with the company for over 25 years.
