Supervalu has reported sales of just under €1.5bn for last year, an increase of 10% on the 2000 figure.
At its national conference in Galway, the company also announced plans by retailers to invest €150m in store development and refurbishment this year. Musgrave Supervalu-Centra, which operates the retail franchise also plans a further €70m capital investment.
New stores are to open in Ratoath, Co Meath, and Clane, Co Kildare with five further new locations planned.
