Irish Distillers benefit from takeover

A number of changes within Irish Distillers Spirits & Wines are being effected by the takeover of the Seagram spirits and wine business by Pernod Ricard and Diageo.

Three members of the senior management team at Irish Distillers Group are being moved to strategic positions within the enlarged Pernod Ricard Group.

Chief Operating Officer Paul Duffy becomes Managing Director, Pernod Ricard UK, with effect from January 2002 and will be based in London.

Martin Riley, currently International Sales and Marketing Director, will take his new position as Marketing Director, Chivas Brothers, early in the New Year and will be based in London.

Marketing Director Adrian Keogh is being appointed Marketing Director of Martell to take effect from early next year and will be based in Paris.

'These promotions within the enlarged Group are a demonstration that Irish Distillers continues to play a central strategic role within Pernod Ricard', said Philippe Savinel, Chief Executive, Irish Distillers Sprits & Wines

'We will now be in a position to gain from the significant Seagram distribution infrastructure, which will be of particular benefit to the Jameson and Bushmills brands in international markets,' he added.
