Biotechnology company Enfer Scientific has been chosen as the sole supplier by the UK Department of Agriculture to supply its BSE test in Britain.
The test will be used for Britain's national BSE surveillance testing of some 200,000 cattle annually.
Enfer's facility at Newbridge, Co Kildare employs 130 scientists and is the world's largest BSE testing centre. It is currently undertaking other BSE testing in the North, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Spain.
The company's headquarters are in Cashel, Co Tipperary.
