Gehe buys Unicare chain of pharmacies

European pharmaceutical wholesaler and retailer Gehe has agreed to acquire the Unicare chain of pharmacies for an undisclosed sum. The deal is subject to approval by the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment.

Unicare operates 30 pharmacies, mainly in Dublin, and employs over 300 people. A statement said the deal was not expected to have any impact on staffing levels at Unicare stores.

Gehe Ireland has already acquired 13 pharmacies in Dublin this year.
