ESB International has announced that it has won a contract in Syria worth just over £1m.
The ESB will oversee the expansion of the national grid there over the next year. This is the second contract the company has won in Syria.
Michael Kelly of the ESB says the company beat off some tough international competition from Sweden, the US and France.
ESB International employs 700 staff and this year is involved on projects in more than 20 countries worldwide.
