Irish business in cooperation deal with China

The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland have agreed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese State Administration for Foreign Experts (SAFEA) that will facilitate technology transfer, training and trade opportunities between Ireland and China.

The broad outline of the Memorandum was agreed at a meeting in CCI headquarters this morning with SAFEA Director Mr Zhang Jianguo and the detailed memorandum will be completed in the next few weeks.

A SAFEA delegation is visiting this country in anticipation of the forthcoming visit to Ireland of Chinese Premier Zhu on 9th September, 2001.

CCI Chief Executive John Dunne said: 'China is extremely interested in developing closer links with Irish business to learn from our success in building a strong IT industry.'

He said that the memorandum would 'facilitate trade visits to China for Irish companies and will see Chinese business people visiting Ireland for training'.
