Order allows more credit union services

Science, Technology & Commerce Minister Noel Treacy has made an order which will allow credit unions to provide additional services to their members with effect from tomorrow, August 1.

The order brings into effect certain provisions of the Credit Union Act,. 1997. These will enable credit unions to develop services such as ATM cards, insurance, investment advice and the provision of Personal Retirement Savings Accounts.

The provision of such services is subject to approval by the Registrar of Friendly Societies Martin Sisk.
