Dublin print company Smurfit Print, owned by the Jefferson Smurfit Group, is to close with the close of 118 jobs.
The company said the closure was due to a serious reduction in the demand for print caused by the major downturn in the Irish high-tech sector.
Smurfit Print, which specialised in the printing of manuals for the technology industry, said it had experienced unsustainable trading losses as a result of this downturn.
Employees at the Glasnevin plant are to enter into discussions on severance terms, a statement from the company said. A spokesman for Smurfit Print told OnBusiness that its closure would not affect the other units of the Jefferson Smurfit Group.
