Kerry AGM told of £49m bolt-on buys

Kerry Group managing director Denis Brosnan has announced a number of bolt-on acquisitions worth 62.6 million euro so far this year.

Mr Brosnan told shareholders at the company's AGM that the acquisitions were all in food industry growth segments such as flavours and seasonings.

The companies acquired had a combined turnover of 51.2 million euro and earnings of 6.5 million euro.

The companies acquired include Wisconsin-based meat seasonings firm Alferi Laboratories, French ingredients company Corol, another Wisconsin company Creative Seasonings & Spices, and Iowa Soy.

Kerry has also reached agreement in principle to buy Italian flavouring manufacturer San Giorgio Flavours from Pernod Ricard.

Mr Brosnan also told the AGM the performance so far this year was in line with expectations.

* Retiring AIB managing director Kevin Kelly is to become a non-executive director from June 1.
