A US health care service company is to create 160 new jobs in Letterkenny, County Donegal, where it is expanding an operation set up less than two years ago.
PacifiCare Health Systems set up a medical claims processing and adjudication branch in Letterkenny in mid-1999 and exceeded its target of creating 150 jobs there by the end of last year.
The expansion is backed by the IDA and is the result of an increasing volume and mix of work being transferred to the centre by the company, which has its headquarters in Santa Ana, California.
The Letterkenny operation processed over one million claims last year. The new 19,000 square foot expansion now planned should see that figure increase to five million claims a year.
The jobs and expansion announcement was made by Tourism Minister Dr Jim McDaid this afternoon.
